320 : Celebrations
Nuuuuuuuu ! I'm officially 21 as of last week ! A big thanks to all friends and family who sms-ed me the wishes. If you did call and it did not get through, that's coz i switched off my phone, did not want the people back at work to ka chiao me (they called and sms-ed me anyways...). Its a busy period for many, that's why no party or what not for anyone, just had a simple dinner + lunch with my 2 families.

The highlight of this week should be my short 3 day trip to macau, with my closer family members. Was my 1st time taking budget airways. Everything was budget, right from the airport budget terminal to the food in the air ( i bought $5 cup noodles), and to the in-flight services. As an archi student, i was so shock to see our local airport terminal's ceiling exposed. ZOMG, they didn't even bother to do up the false ceiling to cover the nasty steel structures and vermiculites, its a freaking warehouse for god's sake. The only thing that looked more presentable was the duty free shop located at arrival, chocked full of liquor thirsty budget travellers (including me). Ok enough of that, i'm just grateful they kept prices low in par with the products/services.

I initially thought, yes i can finally get my feet wet on the craps table, or button mash away on the slots with my ascension into another age category. The all the excitement, the exhilaration building up in me lost its tempo when i was initially rejected into the casino by the security officer at the gates. He wanted to check my ID, so i showed him my ELEVEN BEE (ahmi ic). The fella, read the thing a few times, flipped to the reverse, read it again, and insisted that i present a valid identification. GOSH. The exact same thing happened back in my genting trip earlier this year, and during the customs at the airport in macau. They have never seen an ELEVEN BEE before, the immigrations officer, the 2 casino security who tried to stop my legitimate entry to the casino, none of them knew that i only had that silly green card as an ID. Of course i could show them my passport, but its locked away in my hotel safe.

Suddenly i notice something important :

Photobucket

.... i wore that exact same shirt on all seperate events.

Obviously wearing sneakers, a mickey shirt and a backpack does not help at all during casino entry. Everyone please note this and make no same mistake ever again. The next day, i donned on long black pants, a sleazy pink shirt, with an unshaven chin messed up hair, which greatly improved my image as a proper gambler.

The irony is, i spent nada on the tables, as i could not stand the smell of cigs and tabacco in the air-con room for even 5 minutes. The only way i will sit there and throw all my money away is with a oxygen mask and 2hrs worth of gas tank beside me.

The rest of the trip was pretty mundane, taxi-ing all over the city, looking at sights for less than 1hr and its off we go... The bestest best part was probably the cirque de soleil show in the venetian hotel, in which i got to sit right in the middle of the theatre. We even got a $40 discount off the tickets too ! Worth every cent of the price of the tics. The music, acrobatics, theatrics were all up up class.

As i look back of the week i spent eating, sleeping and travelling, i really wonder if another 20 years down the road, will we still be able to spend our time doing leisure activities ?

As i recall past year, around this date, i was in some island jungle digging graves and getting my feet and undies wet as the rainy season kicked in. And i'm here now, blogging in an aircon room with a glass of duty free plum liquor. Oh and did i mention ? I caught some bad flu back in not so humid macau and currently suffering the consequences of expensive medical bills (but that means another 2 day extended break from work !).

20 more days to pay day. 10 more months to school start. Many more years more to retirement. I can't wait to withdraw all my CPF.

308 : Carrot and the 100m long stick
Recently i bought Dan brown's The Da Vinci Code for a friend as a birthday gift, because throughout the whole of this person's life he had never finished reading a single damn story book. At the fiction section corner i got another book for myself for the long hours in camp this week, Digital Fortress also by the same author.

Its been 4 days of reading and i'm already halfway though the book. Pretty impressive considering i read the book during cough*toilet*cough breaks, lunch break and the 15 min train ride home, or any other chance i find myself not doing anything and waiting... which doesn't happen all too often thanks to my job =(.

Ok. 'nuff said.

I was talking to myself in the shower and i realised all this bad working conditions is due to the culture of the place and people. Ahmi is too concerned about image and the culture is just as the title says, Carrot Danglers. Promise you this that, but the action falls short of all the big talks, won't state any examples as there are just too many. Argh.

There was some concerned there are eyes prying the net looking for idiots who reveal too much about how ahmi is/was. There was also some concerned that as blogs are often accessible to anyone, my future employee or interviewer could run a search string on my name and err... read all about me. Responsibility responsibity. I know well even if one day i delete everything here, they could be retrieved somehow (i won't tell you how) and bam the past will come to haunt you.

So fellow readers and ahmi personnels bloggers, be careful what you write and be responsible about it, your ass might just catch fire one day without you knowing. Oh tweets are also being monitored too btw.

As a disclaimer to CC (cover car-chng), everything you guys read here are just to be taken with a pinch of salt, and never quote me and reference me for anything i write here. kthx.

At time of writing, i just saw the trailer for Modern Warfare 2 and this DS game called Scribblenauts, do check them out and be wowed. I've always been a serious player for COD4:MW and erm, its time to move on. I can't wait to play them coming... end of year.

Long way more to go for ahmi, 1 year 3 months. Loads of people left the service today, envy envy. My next 2 weekends will be burnt in camp thanks to poor planners and people who don't give 2 shiets about feelings.

Koped the template from somewhere off the net though. Lots of work still anyways... Have to buku-in later also, the sian-ness....

288 : ただめいしじゃねい~
Photobucket

We're making a new name card! Well, thats the good news, finally. The bad news ( actually super good news ), is that its a weekday, and i'm once again sitting infront of my PC doing some proper work, which is wonderfully non-ahmi related.

Was tasked last week to update and revamp my coy's fitness notice board, not that i'm a fitness instructor or what not, we're worms under the strict orders to make ourselves busy, or in most cases, SEEM busy. So i dug up my old architectural model making materials, the usual foam board, vanguard sheet, wire mesh to "recycle" into something useful. FINE, i'm actually being cheapo here, but hey i bought a march issue of body building USA just for this, and its not cheap, $15 plus probably can't be claimed.

Its a really interesting magazine about 2cm thick, lots of information on protein shakes, infact 1/3 of the book is chuck full of advertisments on pills and bulking up drugs. And since its from the US of A, i guess, well being the first time i bought an american magazine, i was quite shock to find some pictures of middle finger pointing men and women on the pages. Ok, culture shock for 5 seconds, we move on.

Our shoulder to shoulder distance is about 2.2-2.5 heads apart, anything more or less, a person would look... strange. These men depicted inside the magazine are huge, as in real huge, 3-3.5 heads apart shoulder to shoulder. If you thought the incredible halt was ugly, ugh, i really wonder why people want to build up and train their muscles to such unusual proportions. I would really like to hyperlink a picture to show you what i mean, I'm just afraid I'll feel guilty you won't be able to sleep tonight when you look at it. Google at your own discretion.

And why the heck am i home ? Doc said, "Conjunctivitis." Much less gruesome than overly sized men.

271 : 新しい朝
This year, will be a year with little things to be bothered about. Hmmm, sounds good eh. There's too many things that we should be worried and concerned about now, money, jobs, security, terrorism, dwindling population... blah blah blah, SEE... too much.

Of course, we can just be indifferent, and toss all these things aside.

LETS JUST DO THAT.

Guess i'm just not too noble or responsible enough, ahah brings back memories about the time when i was working on a social responsibilty poster.... NOT.

With a new dawn and another fun filled loving 364 days ahead of us, we were asked by our lao da to come up with a new year resolution, a VISION for the future. Honestly, i think its bullshit, but realistically, people like bullshit. It makes people grow up, mature and to be liked by others. Its the foundation of our society =)

I guess for the year, as an ahmi men, i can't do much. I can't like previous years, hope and target to get good grades for school, or as a normal person, aim to be rich. Getting rich with ur 490$ ahmi pay is gonna take more than a little while.

So, to make things simple ( as things SHOULD already be simple), I'll like to declare that this year :

Let's all be happy.

Its not just me trying to be happy and all, its about YOU being happy. Yes YOU reading all these darn words over here. Let's just be satisfied with the little things around us. Be appreciative (see prev post).

That brings about the question, how do we all be happy ? That, my dear readers, its the answer we all should be searching for starting now, and maybe when you found the answer, you can publish a book about it and earn lots of money...

...just maybe.

I'll just be happy that i get to hold super kick assed weapons and shoot imaginary enemies that doesn't shoot back.

224 : 赢了咯 win liao lor
The bet paid off, i suck up my balls and approached the big guy, demanded, ok more like pleaded in a sorrowful manner, to have my pay raised to an acceptable standard ( market standard at least la). He looked at me, explained i am getting taxpayers money for my pay and i need to fully justify from my side why i deserve so much ( how much it was never mentioned). I left his table with a low low hope of the request getting through because, well the gahment is pretty stingy.

So one week later, after some emails with the HR dept from the big guy, HR CALLED ME AND APPROVED THE PAY RISE ! Big shock ! The "justification" they needed was simply my diploma cert or prove that i am awarded one and graduated. Lesson learned here is, i guess you need to just hold out, do some shit for a respectable amount of time, and approach the closest big guys and use their SEH to get the job done.

I gonna frame up my employment and salary letter in a nice golden acrylic box. So when i come out of NS and look for a job, i got bargaining power liao. Win liao. The bet paid off !

I starting my classes for my students (my colleagues and boss) at work next week friday to teach them the program. Will try to shake a bit more leg and feel shiok before i quit for enlistment.

Past week, chionging the poster for some event corporate thing. Its everywhere, but no on knows the genius behind it, only YOU know, haha for my sake.

Photobucket
Its the one on the left, taken outside the lift lobby of each floor for 32 floors. The one on the right is just ewwww.
Photobucket
Taken by me as observed in the lift. Huge A2 poster glossy paper, god bless the trees for this noble cause.
Photobucket
A3 sized poster found in HR department manager's cubicle while collecting my letter.
Photobucket
And a huge 1.8m high poster to grab people's attention for the donation drive. Can you see it ? And all are printed by me the super part timer.

Flaunting owari !

222 : Tax Payer's Money
JUST today, i asked for a pay rise. I feel it takes lots of balls to ask for such things in front of your colleagues and well, pretty much try to reason out WHY you deserve such a thing. For myself, i've got only half the balls, managed to pop the question after 7pm when most of the people are gone. But yeah, its not easily, especially when the extra money comes from tax payer's pockets, which means yourself, and your mummy and daddy and honey.

Its a pretty good experience, everyone should try it one day, its all part of growing up.

For the past long weekend i did plenty of crazy things too. Too crazy to blog it up, so crazy parliament needs to pass a policy/law/bill to approve it. Probably... And now, the good stuff, give comments as always, i know its not that great, but its the effort and thought that counts. Honestly, it sounds better NOT RECORDED, i have a feeling the pickup a bit spoil.

Recorded 2 more new songs :
1. The Place I'll Return to Someday
2. Happy Birthday Acoustic

The highlight of this post is once again to emphasis the need for a higher education. People simply look at your paper qualifications. TRIPLE SIAN.

Anyway, just curious anyone out there had asked for a pay rise right up your bosses face before ? Anyone ?

220 : A few more months to GO !
Its hard to get a day off when you don't open your mouth. To think of it, work 2 days rest 1 day work 2 more days, rest 2 days, not bad at all. I did many things today already, cleaning my room, watching some new animation dom-chan passed me aeons ago, catching up with old friends, visiting SP and, just getting stumped in a retarded conversation.

Its time, i stand up, boldly and ask for a pay rise. Anyone any tips ? Haha, here's a photo i snapped today.

Photobucket
Match of the century. My opponent took thrice as much time i did and lost. It was an honorable fight worth remembering.

Look forward to whether i get my pay rise or not, if they refuse, i'm quitttting.

218 : Past 2 weeks

Another week has come to an end, and here's what been keeping me busy among other things.

Photobucket
Ah ! 2 weeks worth of hardwork on serious photoshopping and changing and OT-ing to complete this mammoth of a boards. Its actually 3.5 A1 boards stiched together to form this 2m high mounted presentation panels. 150 dpi file. Pure madness

Photobucket
You can see that, the panels consisted of 2 layers, one popping out to show the 3D depth. I killed many trees while printing these guys in GLOSSY A0 sized paper cause the plotter hates me.
Photobucket
I have made a diorama using the extra black foam board from the mounting. Walls were printed and scaled. The rock texture was from normal A1 plotter paper with colour, crumple, fold and staple down to Styrofoam.

Yeah, 2 weeks of (not so hard) work. After this project, i realised the usefulness of having an A1 plotter with (almost) unlimited usage without the factor of cost.

Where shall we go out this weekend ?

207 : I think i figured out how to display the damn title for my posts...
Its been quite sometime since i last updated my blogskin. Simply searching the net and using one of those free codes just ain't my taste. In life, you have to do everything by yourself.

Spent some time working the design and coding. Not saying its all that great either, just wanted something original and looks good, and errr... red. I intend to use this blogskin for the next 2 and a half years to come, by then i'll be in a faraway place, fighting against mosquitoes and probably huge rats. Got to say, this format of a web page is super compatible with many things, displays quite alright in mobile devices too, such as the itouch/phone.

The only big problem so far is the display of the background in firefox and safari. It shows in IE, but i have no balls idea why i doesn't show up elsewhere. Take a look at the code, and if you know the problem drop me a line or a tag.

As of this post the "link" page and "others" page are not working, don't bother clicking on them. Will update them in the next... err update. Portfolio will also be reworked in the next update. Hopefully all these bugs will be fixed.

205 : The Squeeze
Personally i found it strange, to have only a 2 day open house for the NUS admissions. With so many dragon babies roaming around, in addition to those who just got their A lvl results, i don't see why it isn't much publicized and made known to everyone.

Maybe i'm being unfair by comparing the ridiculous advertisements from SP a few months back ( they had SP open house posters at NP main bus stop ) to the ones i am seeing nowadays. I only knew about it when i realised i need to sent in my latest results to admission office.

Personally, yeah, i feel too much advertisements aren't so good, but branding sometimes is a good thing. At this moment i just want to say that, yeah its true our local universities aren't that great, i rather attend an australian uni (if i had the money) than our own locally. As students we choose the school we want to attend, rather than letting the schools choose you. I find it sad, that this country is so small, that our choices are so very much limited, that we are also sometimes forced into a situation and controlled by the gahment. Pissed but yeah, no choice, bo bian.

The paper chase is also another one of those bad cultures we have now, again its bo bian, kiasu-ism has its roots deep into the hearts of many around us. To quote someone i know, "You throw a stone down orchard road sure hit someone with a diploma or higher one." AGREED. Last time(parents' time), people wanted their kids to get a diploma and go out work, not with some "o" lvl only. Now.... haix.

Coming back at the open house i did learn a thing or two, the course i inquired seems pretty do-able at least, better than archi. The studios were as usual packed full of thrash and precious models. And with at least 200 people applying, 80 called for selection/interview and 40 enrollment, suddenly with the squeeze and the paper chase going on, 20% chance of getting in seems pretty high, at least i think.... I'll leave it to fate to decide, i've done all the paper work and its all up to lady luck and FATE. Maybe after NS i'll change my mind too...

203 : 2k Salary
Take a look at my OTHER WORKS

You know sometimes, i wonder why polystudents are being look down upon against JC students. It doesn't make sense, hmm ok maybe it does because of branding of the polys in sg. Students who have a JC background does not mean that they're more ELITE. Haha to quote a friend, "most jc kia come out, still work for bosses who were from poly." I lol-ed.

Speaking of which, a classmate of mine is getting paid a pretty good some (inclusive of OT and what not. ) for around 2k plus, well considering we're just poly grads and doing temp work, thats amazing. Me ? I'm just sticking to my rice and soy sauce.

192 : The long break is here !
Some steps in spending quality time to break out of project mode :

Photobucket
step 1 : vegetarian shark's fin noodle soup - $5, delicious !
Photobucket
step 2 :go TCC for their awesome latte with cookie with friends and dumb jokes. perfect match.
Photobucket
step 3 : spend more hardearned cash at the coffeeclub the next day for more banana pecan caramel latte - sughey !
Photobucket
step 4 : finishing it off with expensive (not so worth the money) ice cream at koolrock

step 5 : regret spending so much on food and stay home and rot

Photobucket
step 6 and final step : unfattening off those sins with tennis at friend's place and hitting home runs like a real newb

Next phase, work mode switch ON ! Its time for more architectural competitions and jobbing to feed my 10 wives and 100 kids. I've got an extra week to go back to school next week to work on those competitions... YATTA ! More CS !

191 : muji muri
Lunar new year, what better way to go shopping and enjoy the singapore style of retain therapy. Other than the usual coffee/milk tea that i normally buy from muji, i got some shirts there too. They're super cool la, and must i mention, small too. My classmates got some ted baker shirts, in which they're nothing close to affordable. Wu liu.

Ok now for the good news :

Grades are out for my JC4 submission !
not that great

The bad news :

21 other people had the same grades as me out of 77 students in my cohort. I'm talking about B+ and As here... Getting a diploma of merit isn't just working hard here, its about working smart and in addition having the X-factor to impress and convince. Top 5% in my course ? You need to be a celestial being to do so.

Today was JAE at the SPCC, heard that a few 4 pointers were inquiring about SP architecture and some already had decided they wanna come in. Well good for you, cause this year the school taking in 120 students instead of the usual 80. It might be easier to come in, but... you're going to be dealing with extremely hardworking/smart people here.

Don't come to poly thinking you just wanna graduate with a normal diploma, aim for something higher and better, don't waste your 3 years in poly just to get a diploma. Of course, non of these are easy to accomplish.

On another note, certain archi firms are hiring a fresh grads with 1.8k salary, and a few of my classmates got in already (easily i suppose thanks to lack of manpower for IR in singapore).

2008 peak of architecture ?

Too bad i'll be in army soon, sad.

125 : wtf one week left.
At the time of writing there is exactly one week before school starts again. My long holiday(one mth) is coming to an end, and dejavu hits again in the eye. I am back from hazy hong kong and back to the usual life. Can't say i am exactly anxious about it though.

Many people procrastinate about work, life and studies. I am one of these many people and it had plague me since childhood. Not very healthy and efficient in life itself. Since in life, there's so many things to be bothered about, that even thinking of it sickens me. Our looks, health, happiness, future, money, family, relationships, friends, commitments and even what comes after life. Once again, i would like to express that "GROWING UP SUCKS !".

If you're younger than i and reading this post, be damn grateful you still got time to sit down and watch TV happily without worrying naught. They say its time management, i said it was time management too, but i say more that the thing is, SHIT HAPPENS. And when shit does happen, no amount of time can patch it back. Confusing ? I sure damn agree with ya.

If there's anything i learned from my HK trip, its the nice beautiful skin the HK ladies have. My tour guide said it was the intensive drinking of herbal soup in HK, thus the good complexion, i say its make up and knowing how to take good care of their looks. Singapore has a long way to go but that's nothing for me to worry about.

Assignments for the remaining days of holidays :

1. Get firmer muscles and build up stamina.
2. Learn dreamweaver and get a website down real quick and working
3. Start on BP submission for school project.
4. Clean my room (AGAIN, haix)
5. Catch up with good friends, kuah, kf, vince and maybe her too.
6. Target and goal setting with semester 2 work plan. (final leg of poly education!)

In hong kong we went to this temple with this huge assed Guan Yin (goddess of mercy) statue at least 3 floors high, so you can roughly imagine the size its toes, real huge. The tour guide said we should go touch or grab or hold on to the toes, so as to next time, we no need to 临时抱佛脚。For those who can't understand, honestly i don't really care as i am too tired to explain what it means after all the nagging and noise at home.

Bless me.

124 : hiroshima trip video

This video was done by CASTER and conveniently uploaded by the man himself. The dondake hiroshima guys are back home and life is back to normal (i think at least). I am going to the airport now for a flight to hong kong. honestly not a tad excited. but i need a good break after my studies.

hmm, just to do a little experiment, who ever tags my blog within these few days till the 15th of September gets a complimentary souvenir from HK. No shit.

We'll see how.

and suddenly, some idiot called kuah takes my camera, ok maybe not MY camera, its chester's. so that "i think i am so kewl" kuah starts shooting people with the cam, thinking he's some sniper.
oh dear, dear dear, what IS he shooting ?
oh thank goodness kuah, a good shot of me.

i tell you they sell EVERYTHING in this place. just look at it. they do not go cheap thoughwe're thirsty, and we got some unfrozen Popsicles. but there's no scissors ?how ? we use our teeth.
dom-chan uses his teeth and sucks the shit out of the popsicle ! look at his artless expression.
we love podium, all hail, all hail archi.
dom-chan drank lots of asahi beer and got real red, not drunk though.
edison, you are now being referred as yk's otaku friend thanks to your shirt, do not blame me. you've brought this upon yourself.
everyone's leaving. the event is over....
we are tired, but happy.
and we thought we could live happily ever after or rather, go home and sleep until rui yuan bugged me. thanks ar.
i am standing beside a future lawyer AKA kf sis. was sort of drunk too, had my share of asahi.
can't believe i went home with his fella, ah its good to have friends around.

As you might have observed, i did not fulfill a men's deepest desire at this event which is to take pureety gers in nice nice yukatas. it really did not occurred to me when i was there. i had borrowed a good camera to take good night shots, but but, i wonder whats wrong with me. guess there's still some things i can't let go. the guys and gal from hiroshima are coming tomorrow for their exchange trip to singapore, need to show my face there. and so, i skip DAY ONE of work.

115 : one year so fast
Hmmm. It probably happened around this period last year.

Can't remember the exact date.

2035hours, thats the exact time it happened.

Its still so so clear in my mind

the image, the mood
, the scenery, the atmosphere.

Everything became nothing, i guess.

In fond memory,

me. you. us.

106 : Rover Website Update !
When you think you got enough things on hand to drive you up the wall and across the south china sea on a bike alone, you get more work. Its really like a snowball effect, but we're not earning money here, its free labour.

The great me is now in charge of the Singapore Rovering Website which had been maintained by some other guy in the previous committee. I just did the first update of the site, and redid the welcome poster on the main page. Its really last minute and stuff as i got zero resources to work with. Feels kinda like going to war without your pants on.

I am finally have total control of a domain. This marks my first step of taking over the world through the internet and soon the universe. Lol and behold the great YK ! Roar ~

105 : Summer Sports JAS event
Went there last sunday actually. Was already super duper jaded from the lack of sleep the previous night due to a rover camp in HQ. Ran some laps and won some stuff, only C.O.P though... Finished up my survey on japanese life in Singapore, managed to get 14 surveys done in around an hour half. Not too bad =) Talking to the japanese in Singapore is really what we call YOKATTA ! YOKATTA, they speak good engrish !

Loser kuah and i posing for the camera. Retarded as usual, probably the rest of his life.
Me taking a picture of a kid taking a picture of other people.
Mascots for the Sports meet. They have a cow, a cat and a rabbit. Unfortunately, i was unable to take a picture of a kid beating up the cat. It was so damn hilarious, the cat suit helmet came off, i saw the lady inside and her face was like all black. So pitiful, getting to wear such a thick costume on such a humid day and get beat up. Oh well. It was good entertainment.
Rained in the morning heavily. The ground is extremely soggy. However, i had predicted so and i brought my booties along ! They are still drying in my bath now. Soggy smelly feet.

JCC buddy jiahua posing for the shot. We just got our bento set. Being vegetarian, the organisers got a vegetarian kway chap from the west coast food court. YUP.
Ok, so i took photos of someone else's bento set.
Highlights for the bento include potato salad, one ebi tepura, and one slice of unagi (OMG!).
Lack of sleep + chips + stressful workload + bad lighting + lousy camera phone = fat yk.
The strong man event, people suppose to endure and carry a super heavy sack of sand and see who can hold it up the longest. Sports eh... ?

097 : japan log part 3
DAY 5 :

Yay, a slack day full of fun in japan ! First off for the day we went to an elementary school for observation and activity. Went round the school looking at stuff. The cool thing was that we got to sit down in those chairs meant for 9 year olds and ate lunch with the kids. The children there and here are so so so much different. Their emphasis on education is really on a more rounded development of the child, especially on the arts such as music and stuff, which i think is better. Singapore's education is so rigid and so objective based. Can't learning be fun ?

The architecture for the school is damn awesome, lots of interactive spaces and gathering areas for the kids. Everything is very neat and well organised. Overlooking areas are plenty. It feels very much like a school, but its difficult to pin point the exact things that made me feel so.
We were first greeted by a these lovely kids in their supposedly auditorium. They sang some songs to us, we sang some songs to them. Interesting exchange really. Suddenly as the guitarist i thought we should sing some child friendly song like "the more we get together", ah but hell, they wouldn't understand anyways.
Afterwards, we've got ourselves into a Q&A session. Unsurprising for me at least, this lady's first question came as whether there we couples in the 10 of us present there. Kids. Another question that i answered personally was the ban of chewing gum in our garden city and why. Had to demonstrate the action of sticking gum onto the bottom of your seat and onto MRT doors, and tada, cultural shock ! Surprise surprise.
The song that they sang. Translates as "towards the wide world" or "hiroi sekai he".After lunch we played dodgeball and some of us went playing catching. Talk about indigestion. Anyway, these blue hat girls came and booked me during lunch and asked me to join their team for dodgeball. Looks can be deceiving, they hit HARD with the ball. But they're cute still. The white cap kid joined in last minute without invitation. Kids.
Group photo with nice obedient cute japanese kids are a must.

And so we move on to the next location the Calbee factory. As its a facility of high security to store the secrets of tasty and crispy chips, cameras were mostly forbidden in the premise. The photo above shows me, in a kinky shower cap to keep my hair in, quite comfortable really.A small section of their showroom which features some of their better known products. We noticed a few packs were ripped from the wall as seen above, probably spies sent from other rival chips company had stolen them. Or maybe some hungry kids from other tour groups. The school vice principal on the far left. Oka-san AKA homestay family mommy AKA Katsue-san beside the VP. Me and roomie.
The rest of the day was meeting our homestay family and going over to their house. Sadly, i had a room mate as seen above who wants to steal my bed from the very tired me. His name shall not be disclose for my personal safety. He's lying in his bed now, looking through all those naughty photos he took. My homestay family, and their eldest son and his wife. Pretttyyyy.

094 : Japan Log part 2
DAY 4:
And so for another wayang day we visited the HIT (hir0shima institute of technology). Its strategically located on the foot of the hill, just high enough to view the marvelous south view of the sea. It overlooks the hiroshima city which is actually lying on a river delta. Amazing really.
Here's me and the guys i last talked to in HIT during an english class. Nice people, especially naoki-san just right beside me. We've been talking and chatting on msn quite often in both japanese and english. Thrilling, never realised a day such as this would arrive.

F-ing amazing views, desho ?

A poster in their staff office in HIT. Miss universe 2007 from japan. Not that great eh ? Even the japanese people said it was a real shocker to them. Some bus stop in Hiroshima. Or was it a train station ? Cant remember. With erishia-chan and valerie-chan. Is it me or this valerie is like worlds apart (inside joke). Holy sh*t, who's that handsome young man there ? Hmm....

Jane, a member of the royal "do the right thing" group smiles for the camera ! In her very arms lies the great yellow vodafone from japan ! Jack in the corner of the picture is translating a script for erishia for her speech later that night.
Later that night .... Beautiful office ladies awaits us with a warm reception to the land of the super formal occasion in which we shall depart for the next world after our half past 6 performance by SP students. Boy did we suck. Thank goodness no one took any photos. Only got videos. This event is supposedly a annual financial report and dinner event for the HSA hiloshima shingapore association.
The amazing 30mins performance that owned us all. They were before us and world class.

So as i sign of good sportsmanship and competition, i took a picture with the two ladies. Trust me they look better in the picture than in real life. Its the details that counts. However my defeat had rendered me a state of abnormality. Notice my awkward smile.

Once again my insecure mind had caused me to accidentally close my eyes during photo taking.
Okay enough for day 4.

091: japan trip log
UPDATED JUNE 20TH 2007

day 1:

EDIT-ADDED PHOTOS
ok great, right now i am using some stupid 'one coin internet' machine which costs 100yen for 15mins.... great 12mins left.

having problems finding wireless here...... guess that i can only post pictures when i get back, but so far, the trip is great. Well, other than the lack of vegetarian food in japan, overall the environment is feel is awesome, especially the weather. As of typing, the temperature is around 20 degs C. Super super nice unlike sunny singapore.

Stupid Shinkansen was screwed up as we boarded the wrong section of the train, in the end due to the lack of seats, we stood outside the toilet compartment of the train for like 40mins.

Fukuoka is cool. Hiroshima is cool too. The architecture here is not as interesting, but the ladies are. Their hairdo are nothing short of amazing i tell you. As benjamin says, if all of the ladies in SG can do some proper make up, the chio rate sure will increase bifold.

Note to all friends and people who expect souvenirs from me : THINGS ARE SO DAMN EXPENSIVE. Especially the uniform for the high school guys, you do not wanna know the price.

Day 1 was cool cept the lao sai experience on the train and plane, must have ate something wicked during sakae sushi. Osu ! Yuankai from hiroshima aster plaza hotel, over and out !

group photo at changi kukou.

hakata station for transferring to shinkansen (bullet train)
posers never journey alone. outside private taking us back to hotel.

day 2:

today we went to miyajima with some students from hitp. miyajima is a world heritage site for its famous shinto shrine and o-torii gate. (see pic below) we need to take a short ferry trip from mainland to the island of miyajima

did some silly things like praying at the shrine and throwing my precious 100yen into the donation box. Oh ! and did some fortune telling too. got a positive reading, basically says pretty much everything i do will be smooth sailing, well, its only one small slip of paper with words font size 8.

i like fanta grape. its a nice artificially flavoured fizzy grape drink. its cheap too ! java tea aint that great, buts its still drinkable.

infact i woke uplate today, so i didn't have time to do my hair. this is the result. i am outside an ice-cream shop near the port of miyajima.
eh.... i didn't know wild dears ate paper and underwear.
terence and i doing don't know what.
random japanese cat in miyajima. i wonder if it understands english or chinese. ni hao ma.

back in hotel after tiring and intensive tourism-ing, practicing performance and presentation.

day 3 :

today is the official day of our welcoming party by the school in hiroshima. in addition, we went to see the big guys, the shacho or head executive from the hiroshima singapore association. So in the end its another full day of blazer.the above picture is at the HITP basement right beside their school canteen. lots of yummy food prepared for us. amazing sight, they got seriously everything to eat, from salad to sushi to udon to even cakes. nice opening ! the hiroshima press is here too at the background. i got interview later during the reception by the pretty reporter lady... in japanese, honestly i would not dare to look at myself stutter on japan national tv.... so paiseh.
this is kana-san with her nice brush painted tattoo.(corrected by Caster-chan) cool la .
the students in hitp, kimini-yan and kouji. really good people, guess how old they are....
haix.... welcome to hiroshima ! now first off shodo/calligraphy at HITP !

Wow, just look at me hard at work. Honestly, i know nuts about writing calligraphy.the meeting room in the HSA while waiting for the big guys. very formal occasion, very scary.
The big guys, seated. The fish fry, standing.

090: off i go to japan
Coming friday 8th June 2007 i will be flying off to japan, hiroshima for my long awaited exchange programme. Pretty excited really, but at the same time, a bit sad. Sad for my wallet that is.

The programme is 1 week long. So in other words i will be available for one entire week. In addition, it will be very difficult to contact me then. Not sure whether my crappy phone works over there, but i will try, be buying a calling card anyways.

Leaving for the airport at around 8pm at friday night, flight is at 1am in the morning. Damn, and i wanted to enjoy the day view too, won't be liking too much sleeping on the plane, but hey, we save time ya ?

Guitar, one heavy luggage with 7 days worth of clothes, and one backpack for hand carry.... Its gonna be ugly going to airport and traveling around in a foreign country. Anyone wanna join me on my last voyage ? You will be handsomely rewarded.

079: When bad rhymes attack
I would like to dedicate this post to Kenneth Guo, a good buddy play pal of mine in SP DARCH 04 !

As mentioned earlier and commonly in my precious posts, i said puberty sucks, and guess what, it really does. It sucks so damn hard especially, when puberty hits you unknowingly at the age of 18-19. Keeping in mind for guys the raging years of hormones and growth are around 15-16, some people do indeed show signs of late mental growth. (no, i am not saying these people are stupid)

Puberty involves changes of the body, and especially the mind. Ever wondered why, when you were younger that time, you did a plenty of silly things, absolutely nonsensical stuff that pissed your mom, dad, friends and dogs off ? Sometimes, we young people/younger people can't think so well and correct as most parents and adults think we can.

Sure, we look tall, big and bigger on some parts for the ladies, but appearance does not necessary means our brains are really growing. I think as educators and adults, need to have an assumption that 15-20 year olds can ACTUALLY have the mindset of a twelve year old. A 12 year old would probably run around in the shopping mall with their shirts tucked out and shoes untied while screaming "the nazis are coming !". Alternatively, they might even be some forbidden place at night with the neighbours' daughter/son doing funky stuff. These can be quite dangerous really. (but good for procreation)

Even for the great Yuankai, he had been once, young and ignorant, silly and stupid like all 10 year olds are. He's been disillusioned, hypnotized and drugged till he cannot even spell out his mother's name. Yet, he still lives and breathes the same air you are breathing right now, ain't that amazing ?

No one has the right to judge themselves on how matured they are. It is only fair, for observers to actually tell you how childish or grown up you had become or still are. For myself, i still think i have many much more things to learn to help me mature faster, as honestly i feel that my mindset is not up to par with the norm. But hey, its all part and spelled out in the word "youth", because as youth, i feel it is necessary to make mistakes and learn from the mistakes. Once you are an adult, mistakes means money, time and blood.

So, Kenneth, if you forgot really what i told you on the train the other day, here's the main point;

Make your decision, you make it fast,
make the wrong one, just regret it last.
Life is about choices and making mistakes,
learn from your mistakes, cause there's still another day.

Love is like a design, there's no right or wrong,
go jump right in don't think it too long.
Heave ho ! Oh i try so hard to rhyme,
i'm running out of ideas so i'm gonna say bye bye.

alrights, arui !

055 : Report dake !
First of all, i hope no one i know who should not be lurking around this blog is reading this crap. The previous sentence was somewhat grammatically wrong, but wad the heck.

So, how's everyone so far ? For the people who finished their "A"s and are sniffing around and staring at YUI, congratulations, you all made it pass that gate with your lives hanging at the brink of non-existence. As for me, its downhill still. Many things happened too fast for me to respond to, many revelations of the truth of the world, the society and the people around me had made me think about everything. So much that, knowledge is becoming a burden for me. Once again, ignorance is indeed bliss...

For the above, i will elaborate in the future.

Thanks to Xue for passing his collection of Jdramas, i feel like i had gained much from watching these shows. Yes, they may be works of fiction and mostly targeted at little girls and stuff, but heck its some pretty interesting and.... reeks of nostalgia crap.

The titles i watched are : Trick 1 and 2, Densha Otoko, Gokusen, My Boss My Hero. The one that hit me the most is probably densha otoko. Its realistically fake, and fakishly real at the same time. You cannot just decide whether the events that happened in the show are actually, happening. For those who had yet to watch/read the title, i urge you to go at least take a peek at it. Google is your friend. Maybe for awhile or a flash of a moment, i saw myself as the protagonist of the show, i might be hallucinating you wouldn't know yet, for once, i wished i was in love again... haha right Xue ?

We scouts are going to have a camp soon, and i am the brains behind it, its giving me more pressure than i can handle, and must do it. Its less than 2 weeks away now.... Eh.... I just shat in my pantttsss. . ...

*changes pants*

Here is the poster that i did in an hour....

To all scouts and leaders reading this, PLEASE COME !

053 : discussion
as i suddenly had realised, as you get older your priorities changes, so does your outlook of life and the people around you. your firm beliefs that had been deeply rooted into you are already starting to decay and rot. you do not know and are unable to differentiate truth and false, the good and the bad.

042 : DC Submission
Its amazing (well at least to me) that for poly education, i am actually working harder than how i did during my "O" levels. Submissions made me sweat and work like a dog than a mugging hamster during then. At least when my Os came, i was still pretty cool about how i will do even though i didn't study much or rather as well as my abilities could take me...

Submissions in poly life is so different. And it had made me so different. Back then, sleep was ok ok, so i tell myself to stop mugging at 10pm and go to bed. Now, its do work till 10am and then go to school. Sleep ? What sleep ? It ain't a necessity anymore, its a luxury.

DC submission (something i don't really like) stands for development control. Its got to do with CAD files and do lots of vector drawings like crazy, which pretty much sums up what I will do in my FUTURE job.

Not very bright is it ? But i want my future to be bright and full of life, which includes money, techies and beautiful women ( or ONE beautiful woman...), oh and maybe a sports car too, and who can forget good health ?

I wish to bash that idiot who told me last time that go poly is to slack and JCs are for muggers. Maybe JJC aint bad afterall. What the heck am i saying, bloody shit i am in year 2 now.... -_-"

My course really does push me to my limit. Submission is in 4 days, and once again, i am far from done.... Haiz, must this really go on and on and on ??? Once ITP comes, it will end, once it end, year 3 awaits, year 3 ends, sayonara poly education, hello NS.

Shit.
